Last week, The St Johns Handyman tackled an Attic Ladder Installation project in an up-and-coming neighborhood near World Golf Village. Our customer wanted to make the most of their attic space, so we set about installing a sturdy attic ladder that would make trips up there a breeze.
The job began with the careful removal of the existing trim so we could accurately assess the opening. The next step was to put in place new supports and then raise the ladder into its position. Using 12 bolts, we secured the ladder to the framing, ensuring it was rock solid. We trimmed the opening with fresh door casing and then gave the access door a paint job for a clean and consistent look.
With the ladder in place, we then turned our attention to reinforcing and decking out the attic itself. This involved cutting 1/2″ OSB into smaller, manageable pieces and securing them in the attic.
This project wrapped up with the installation of a top-quality 10-foot aluminum Louisville Ladder and the addition of 1/2″ OSB to further enhance the attic space.
