Not long ago, the team at The St Johns Handyman had the opportunity to work on a unique project in St Johns. A leaking disposal had resulted in significant damage to the bottom of a kitchen cabinet, and it was our task to fix it. Recognizing the lack of structural integrity, we decided that complete replacement was the way to go.
After carefully removing the damaged cabinet base and cleaning up the debris, we diligently built a strong base using dimensional lumber and 3/4″ plywood, knowing well that it would have to support a reverse osmosis system. But the real challenge was cutting out holes for the plumbing – it’s easy to make a mess of these cuts without the right hole saws. Fortunately, we have all the right tools and the years of experience needed for such detailed work.
As the cherry on top, we installed a cabinet liner, adding a layer of protection against any future spills or leaks. Standard particle board cabinets don’t stand up to water very well, so having this protective barrier was a great addition. Our client was happy with the result, and we, The St Johns Handyman, left the project with a sense of accomplishment, once again proving that no job is too big or small for us.
